MANILA, Philippines – Matapos ang ‘tampuhan’ ay magbabalik si seven-foot Greg Slaughter sa kampo ng Barangay Ginebra.

Tiniyak ni head coach Tim Cone na muling magsusuot ang 32-anyos na higante ng uniporme ng Gin Kings matapos tanggihan ang alok na contract extension noong Enero.

“I fully expect him to play for us next conference,” sabi ng 62-anyos na si Cone sa 32-anyos na Cebuano giant sa ‘Power and Play’ program ni da-ting PBA Commissioner Noli Eala.

Nagbalik si Slaughter sa bansa noong Oktubre 6 mula sa walong buwan na pagsasanay sa United States kung saan pumirma siya sa BeoBasket, isang basketball agency na humahawak sa mga European cagers kagaya ni Nikola Jokic ng Denver Nuggets.

Dahil hindi natapos ang muling pakikipag-usap ng Ginebra kay Slaughter, ang 2014 PBA Rookie of the Year na produkto ng Ateneo Blue Eagles ay hindi nila naisama sa PBA ‘bubble’ sa Clark Freeport Zone sa Angeles, Pampanga para sa 2020 Philippine Cup.

“I tried hard to get him into this (PBA) bubble, but he just had too many things going on that he could not make it in time to get here,” sabi ni Cone.

Tiniyak ng two-time PBA Grand Slam champion coach na babalik si Slaughter sa Ginebra sa 2021 PBA Philippine Cup.

At bago ito ay posible ring maglaro si Slaughter para sa Gilas Pilipinas na sasabak sa 2021 FIBA Asia Qualifiers sa susunod na buwan.

“I think Greg would be an asset. I’ve seen his video, I think it’s great. I would certainly welcome that but it’s not a done deal at this point,” ani Tab Baldwin, ang program director ng Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).

Haharapin ng Gilas ang South Korea sa Nobyembre 27 kasunod ang Thailand sa Nob. 30.
