Pinas may ihihirit pa sa Vietnam SEA Games

MANILA, Philippines — Matapos aprubahan ang apat na sports ay umaasa si Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino na papayagan rin ng host Vietnam na maidagdag ang skateboarding at sambo para sa 31st Southeast Asian Games.

“By God’s grace, perhaps sambo and skateboarding will be in next year’s SEA Games,” wika ni Tolentino, kinatawan din ng 8th District ng Cavite sa Kongreso, sa nasabing dalawang events na pinagkunan ng mga Pinoy ng gold medals noong 2019 edition.

Nauna nang idinagdag ng Vietnam SEAG Organizing Committee ang jiu jitsu, triathlon, esports at bowling sa calendar of events ng 2021 SEA Games. Nais din ni Tolentino na maisama ang baseball, softball, soft tennis, duathlon, windsurfing, wakeboarding at water skiing.

Lumobo na sa 40 sports ang lalaruin sa 2021 Vietnam SEA Games na itinakda sa Nobyembre 21 hanggang Disyembre 2 sa Hanoi at Ho Chi Minh.

“This is good news for us because we dominated three of these four sports when we hosted the games in December 2019,” sabi ni Tolentino, pangulo rin ng Philippine Cycling Federation (Philcycling).

Noong 2019 SEA Games ay hinirang na overall champion ang Team Philippines sa nahakot na 149 gold, 117 silver at 121 bronze medals kasama ang limang ginto sa jiujitsu at tig-tatlo sa esports at triathlon events.

Para naman sa asam na Olympic gold medal sa 2021 Games sa Tokyo, Japan nais ni Tolentino na mabigyan pa ng P510 milyon ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) dagdag sa P207 mil-yon na inaprubahan na ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) bilang 2021 budget ng PSC.
