MANILA, Philippines — Ayaw ni John Riel Casimero ng matagalang laban.

Tinalo ni Casimero si Ghanian challenger Duke Micah via third-round knockout para patuloy na isuot ang kanyang World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight crown kahapon sa Mohegan Sun Casino sa Uncasville, Connecticut.

Ito ang unang title defense ng tubong Ormoc City, Leyte para sa WBO belt na kanyang nakuha matapos talunin si South African Zolani Tete via third-round KO victory noong Nobyembre sa England.

“Duke Micah, all my punches, he eat. But he has a strong chin,” sabi ng 30-anyos na si Casimero matapos ang laban. “I’m surprised because my prediction is one hit maybe, because I’m strong, man.”

Nirapido ni Casimero, pinaganda ang kanyang win-loss-draw ring record sa 30-4-0 tampok ang 21 KOs, ang bodega ni Micah (24-1-0, 19 KOs) sa first round hanggang kumonekta ang Pinoy champion ng isang left hook na nagpabagsak sa Ghanian fighter sa second round.

Nang hindi na makaporma si Micah sa third round dahil sa mga suntok na inabot kay Casimero ay tuluyan nang inihinto ni referee Steve Willis ang laban sa hu-ling 54 segundo.

Matapos iligpit ang 29-anyos na si Micah ay hinamon naman ni Casimero si Japanese star Naoya Inoue (19-0-0, 16 KOs) na bitbit ang mga World Boxing Association (WBA) at International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight belts.

“I’m the real monster. Naoya Inoue is scared of me. You’re next. I would have knocked out anyone today,” ani Casimero. “If Inoue doesn’t fight me, then I’ll fight Guillermo Rigondeaux, Luis Nery, or any of the top fighters.”

Nakatakdang labanan ng 27-anyos na si Inoue si Australian challenger Australia Jason Moloney (21-1-0, 18 KOs) sa Nobyembre 1 sa MGM Grand sa Las Vegas, Nevada.
