Kay Roach magsasanay si Marcial

MANILA, Philippines — Sa kanyang pagsasanay sa Los Angeles, California ay may posibilidad na makasama ni amateur boxing standout Eumir Felix Marcial si American trainer Freddie Roach.

Dadalhin ng MP Promotions ni world eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao ang 24-anyos na si Marcial sa United States para ihanda sa tatlong maiikling professional fights.

“We’re gonna go there try a few trainers. hopefully, Freddie. I think he’ll be a great trainer/coach if you look at the history. He’s done a few good things with the Filipino fighters. I think he’s got a good track record there,” wika kahapon ni Sean Gibbons, ang MP Promotions president, sa webcast edition ng Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum.

Lumagda kamakailan si Marcial sa isang six-year contract sa MP Promotions.

Pumayag ang boxing promotions ni Pacquiao na maging prayoridad ng tubong Zamboanga City ang kanyang kampanya sa 2021 Olympic Games sa Tokyo, Japan.

“Ang dami ko pang dadaanan na malalakas na kalaban. Siguro step by step lang, focus lang muna sa mga laban sa four rounds,” ani Marcial.

Bago ang Tokyo Summer Games sa Hulyo ng susunod na taon ay tatlong professional fights ang gagawin ni Marcial. “We hope to possibly have about three fights because we have a year before the Olympics,” wika ni Gibbons. “Hopefully, we’ll do something in October and then we’ll work from there. Hopefully, about three fights before has to stop and go fully concentrate on the Olympics.”

Patuloy pa ring lalaban si Marcial sa middleweight division sa kanyang pagsabak sa pro boxing.

“Medyo overweight ako ngayon, pero diyan ‘yung talagang kondisyon ang katawan ko sa middleweight,” wika ni Marcial, makakasama sa 2021 Tokyo Olympics sina lady boxer Irish Magno, pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena at gymnast Carlos Edriel Yulo.
