Ancajas ikakasa kay Rodriguez sa Abril

MANILA, Philippines — Walang iba kundi si Mexican challenger Jo­na­than Rodriguez ang ma­kakasagupa ni reig­ning International Boxing Federation (IBF) super fly­weight world champion Jerwin Ancajas sa kanyang title defense sa Ab­ril.

Mismong si Top Rank Promotions chief Bob Arum na ang nagsiwalat ng sariwang balita ngunit wala pang pinal na desis­yon kung saan idaraos ang bakbakan.

Makakaharap sana ni Ancajas si Rodriguez no­ong Nobyembre 2 sa Carson, California.

Pero nakansela ang laban dahil sa problema sa visa ni Rodriguez.

“Yes (it’s Rodriguez). I did not make the match, one of my people made it. Once we finalized everything, we will announce it. I think that fight will most likely by April 11,” wika ni Arum.

Siniguro naman ni Arum na wala nang magi­ging aberya sa pagkakataong ito.

Kailangan aniya maplantsa ang lahat ng do­ku­mento bago pa man ang laban partikular na ang visa na naging pa­ngu­nahing dahilan para ma­kansela ang laban ni­to kay Ancajas noong Nob­yembre.

“We are still finalizing the site. But you know sometime next week or so, everything will come together. We’ve been announcing two fights for every month but at least two or three fights, so we will have that final advise sometime next week,” sabi pa ni Arum.

Naging kapalit ni Rod­riguez si Chilean Miguel Gonzalez kung saan iti­na­rak ni Ancajas ang im­presibong sixth-round knockout victory noong Dis­yembre 7 sa Puebla, Me­xico.

Marami pang plano si Arum kay Ancajas.

Matapos si Rodriguez, target ni Arum na isabak si Ancajas kina World Bo­xing Council super flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada ng Me­xico, World Boxing Association super flyweight titleholder Khalid Yafai ng Great Britain at  World Boxing Organization champion Kazuto Ioka ng Ja­pan para sa isang unification bout.
