Iisa lang ang misyon ng Mighty Sports

MANILA, Philippines — Walang ibang misyon ang Mighty Sports-Philippines kundi masikwat ang kampeonato sa papalapit na 31st Dubai International Basketball Tournament sa susunod na linggo.

Tiwala si coach Charles Tiu na maisasakatuparan nila ang hangarin lalo’t solid ang kanilang roster na pinaghalong collegiate standouts sa bansa at mga beteranong reinforcements.

“I really like our local crew. You look at the guys, all the college stars are out here and our imports are very solid,” ani Tiu na makakasama si Angola national team coach Will Voigt sa paggabay sa Philippine representative. “We better win the championship, that’s all I can say. Hopefully we learned our lessons from our mistakes last year.”

Noong nakaraang taon ay nagkasya lang sa third place finish ang Mighty Sports dahilan upang pala-kasin nila ang koponan ngayon upang maging kauna-unahang non-Middle Eastern country champion sa Dubai tourney.

Babandera sa Mighty Sports sina ex-Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player Andray Blatche at resident import Renaldo Balkman kasama sina McKenzie Moore at Jelan Kendrick.

Subalit ayon kay team owner Caesar Wongchuking, ang local core sa pangunguna nina Thirdy Ravena at Kai Sotto ang magiging Alas ng Mighty.

“I’m beaming with pride. I’m very happy to be part of this and be able to assemble this much ta-lent while they’re not still in the PBA. I think (the core) of this team will represent the Philippines in the future,” aniya.

“There’s no non-Middle Eastern team that has won this tournament so I’m really looking forward to have a strong showing this month.”
