Yulo, Pacquiao torchbearers; Obiena, Didal, 4 pa flag bearers

MANILA, Philippines — Pinal na ang desis-yon ni Philippine Sports Commission at Chef De Mission William ‘Butch’ Ramirez para sa anim na national athletes na ba­bandera sa makulay at ma­garbong ope­ning ce­re­monies ng 30th Southeast Asian Games sa Nob­yembre 30.

Si world champion gymnast Carlos Edriel Yu­lo at Pinoy boxing champion Manny Pacquiao ang mga napiling torchbearers, habang ma­giging flag bearer naman sina Asian champions EJ Obiena (pole vault), Margielyn Didal (skateboarding), Kiyomi Watanabe (judo), Eumir Marcial (boxing), Nes­thy Petecio (boxing) at Maggie Ochoa (jiu-jitsu).

Si Ochoa ang umangkin sa unang gold medal ng Pilipinas sa nakaraang 4th Jiu Jitsu Asian Championships sa Mongolia.

Nauna nang ikinunsi­dera ni Ramirez na ma­ging isa sa mga flag bea­rers si 2016 Olympic Games silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz ng weightlifting ngunit hindi ito ka­sama sa listahan.

“It was me who on my capacity as CDM (Chef De Mission) who made the decision,” wi­ka ni Ramirez. “We already informed the POC (Philippine Olympic Committee).”

Ang opening ceremony ng 2019 SEA Games ay gagawin sa Philippine Arena sa Bocaue, Bulacan.

Magiging malaking sorpresa sa lahat kung pa­­ano sisindihan ang SEA Games cauldron na na­sa New Clark City na malayo sa opening ceremony venue sa Bulacan.

Gagampanan ng  19-anyos na si Yulo at ang eight division world champion na si Pacquiao ang pagsisindi ng SEA Games flame.

Nakamit ni Yulo ang makasaysayang gold me­dal victory sa FIG World Artistic Gymnas­tics Championship sa Stuttgart, Germany no­ong Oktubre.

Noong 2017 SEA Games sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ay si taek­wondo jin Kirstie Elaine Alora ang tumayong flag bearer ng Philippine contingent sa opening ce­remony.
