MANILA, Philippines — Humirit din ng tiket sa quarterfinals si Norlan Petecio matapos itakas ang split decision win sa men’s light­weight (56-60 kg.) ng 2019 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships sa Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Mas agresibo si Petecio sa huling sandali ng laban para makuha ang 3-2 decision kontra kay Eziz Muhammetmyradov ng Turkmenistan.

Pare-parehong may 30-27 desisyon ang mga hurado mula Sri Lanka, Iraq at Turkey pabor kay Petecio habang pumanig sa kanyang karibal ang mga judges mula Kyrgyzstan at Syria na may magkatulad na 29-28 iskor.

Makakalaban ni Petecio sa quarterfinals si se-cond seed Thankhui Noppharat ng Thailand na nakasiguro ng opening round bye.

Si Petecio ang ikaapat na Pinoy boxers na nasa quarterfinal round ng torneong nilahukan ng 189 boxers mula sa mahigit 20 bansa.

Una nang nakapasok sa quarters sina John Vincent Pangga sa men’s flyweight (49-52 kg.), Ailene Kaye Ca­ra­nagan (women’s ban­tam­weight, 51-54 kg.) at Mary Sinadjan (women’s flyweight, 48-51 kg.) sa kani-kanilang dibisyon.

Sunod na sasalang sina Flint Jara (men’s light flyweight, 46-49 kg.), Char­lie Calago (men’s ban­tamweight 52-56 kg.) at Randy Tanodra (men’s light welterweight, 60-64 kg.).

Makakalaban ni Jara si Soy Selay ng India habang aarangkada si Calago laban kay Tohnej Rashmika ng Sri Lanka at haharap si Tanodra kay Javlonbek Yuldoshev ng Uzbekistan.
