Philippine men’s at women’s beach volley teams isasabak sa 2019 Rebisco International Open

MANILA, Philippines — Bago sumabak sa darating na 30th edition ng Southeast Asian Games ang Philippine wo­men’s at men’s beach volleyball national teams ay ma­­susubok muna sila sa 2019 Rebisco Beach Volleyball International Open na hahataw sa Biyernes sa SM By The Bay sa Pasay City.

Makakaharap ng na­­tional squads sa nasa­bing 20-team, double-gender na torneo ang mga koponan mula sa iba’t ibang bansa kagaya ng Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Palau at New Zealand.

Ang torneo ay mag­ka­tuwang na inorganisa ng La­rong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. at Beach Volleyball Republic ka­sama ang Rebisco.

Pinahalagahan naman ni team manager Cha So­ria­­no ang supor­ta ng Phi­lippine Sports Com­mission at Re­­bisco.

“With all the support we received, our teams are hoping to get far in this SEA Games,” sabi ni Soriano kahapon sa Phi­lippine Sportswri­ters Association Forum sa Amelie Hotel in Manila.

Noong 2005 Manila SEA Games ay inangkin ni­na Diane Pascua at Heidi Ilustre ang bronze medal sa women’s division.

Bukod kay Soriano, bumisita rin sa PSA Forum na iniha­handog ng San Miguel Corp., Braska Restaurant, Amelie Hotel at PAGCOR sina La­rong Volleyball sa Pi­lipinas Inc. (LVPI) trai­­ning director Peter Cay­co, coaches Paul John Doloiras at Jason Ga­­bales at physical the­ra­pists Faye Acordon at Carl Dimaculangan.

Bilang host ay binigyan ng karapatan ang Pi­lipinas na maglahok ng dalawang pares sa men’s at women’s division.

Lalaruin ang beach volleyball, naglalatag ng dalawang gold me­dals, sa Nobyembre 29 hanggang Disyembre 6 sa Subic.

Ang naturang three-day tournament ay baha­gi ng pagsasanay ng da­lawang Philippine teams para masukat at makita ang kanilang kahandaan para sa pagsalang sa regional biennial meet at iba pang international tour­­naments.

Pangungunahan nina Sisi Rondina at Bernadeth Pons ang women’s team kasama ang pares ni­na Dij Rodriguez at Dzi Gervacio.

Ito na ang ikalawang regional competition na lalahukan ng tambalan nina Rondina at Pons.

Unang nagpakitang gi­las sina Rondina at Pons noong 2017 Asian Beach Volleyball Championships na ginanap sa Singapore kung saan nakalusot sila sa quarter­fi­nals.

Samantala, ipaparada naman ng national men’s team ang pares ni­na Ed­­mar Bo­nono at Jude Garcia at ang tambalan ni­na Krung Arbasto at James Buy­trago.
