Meijers ‘di pa rin natitinag

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Philippines — Halos 30 segundo ang inubos ni Jesse Coyle ng Team Nero Bianchi para makawala sa atake ng mga kalaban bago pag­ha­rian ang Stage Four 176-kilometer race, habang hindi naman matinag si Jeroen Meijers sa pamumuno sa individual ge­neral classification.

Humagibis ang 6-foot-2 na si Coyle para ilista ang bilis na apat na oras, 28 minuto at 41 segundo at angkinin ang lap win ng 2019 Le Tour De Filipinas na sinimulan at nagtapos dito kahapon.

“Some of the GC (general classification) candidates were attacking, so I made my move in the last 10 kilometers together with him (Muhammad Shaiful Adian Mohd Shukri),” sabi ng 24-anyos na tubong Sydney, Australia.

Si Coyle ay nauna nang sumemplang sa Stage Two 194.9 kms na pinagha­rian ni German rider Mario Vogt ng Team Sapura Cycling (Malaysia).

Sumegunda naman kay Coyle si Mohd Shukri sa kanyang oras na 4:28.41 kasunod sina Vogt (4:29.13), Mohd Zamri Saleh (4:29.13) ng Terengganu Cycling Team, Jamalidin Novardianto (4:29.13) ng PGN Road Cycling, Warut Paekrathok (4:29.13) at Setthawut Yordsuwan (4:29.13) ng Thailand National Team.

Nagtala naman si Meijers ng aggragate time na 17:03.19 para patuloy na isuot ang purple jersey kasunod sina Choon Huat Goh (17:04.04) ng Terengganu Cycling Team, Angus Lyons (17:04.57) ng Oliver’s Real Food Racing, Daniel Habtemichael (17:05.32) ng 7-Eleven Cliqq-Air21, Sandy Nur Hasan (17:05.44) at Aiman Cahyadi (17:05.51) ng PGN Road Cycling.

“I’ll just try to hold on to have that chance of winning this race,” sabi ng 6’4 na si Meijers, naglista ng 4:29.13 sa Stage Four.

Tanging si Felipe Marcelo ng 7-Eleven Cliqq-Air21 ang Pinoy rider na napasama sa Top 10 ng general classification sa kanyang oras na 17:05.55 para upuan ang No. 10.

Samantala, ilalarga naman ngayong araw ang Stage Five 138.1 kms. na pakakawalan dito at babagtas sa mga bayan ng Camalig, Ligao, Oas, Pio Duran, Donsol, Pilar at Daraga.
