MANILA, Philippines — Dalawang knockout matches ang idaraos sa Ba­tangas City tampok ang bakbakan ng Athletics at Imus Bandera at ang salpukan ng Zamboanga at Mun­tinlupa Cagers sa 2019 MPBL Datu Cup sa Batangas City Coliseum.

Magtutuos ang Athletics, ang inaugural staging champions, at ang Bandera sa krusyal na laro nga­yong alas-9 ng gabi matapos ang banggaan ng Zamboanga at Cagers sa alas-7.

Tinalo ng Imus ang Batangas City, 75-69, noong Huwebes at inaasahang muling dadalawahan ang host team.

“Gusto ko ‘yung tsansa namin. Kasi nga napatuna-yan namin na kaya naming manalo and even nung natalo kami sa Batangas, we’ve proven that we can compete with them,” sabi ni Imus coach Noy Falcasantos.

Inaasahan din ni Falcasantos na gagamitin ng Athle-tics ang kanilang homecourt advantage para makabawi.

“Except the home court advantage,” ani Falcasantos. “It’s something we have to live with. If we want to win, winning in Batangas would be sweeter.”

Maghaharap naman ang Zamboanga at Muntinlupa sa isa pang ‘rubber match’ matapos igupo ng Zamboanga ang Cagers noong Huwebes.

Muling aasahan ng Zamboanga sina Harold Arbo­leda, Reed Juntilla at Robin Roño sa layuning makapasok sa semifinal round.
