MANILA, Philippines — Nangangailangan ng extra period ang nagdedepensang San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas bago magtagumpay laban sa Mono Vampire Thailand, 110-100 para masungkit ang pang-walong panalo sa pagpapatuloy ng 9th ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) noong Linggo ng gabi sa Sta. Nagsanib-puwersa sina Renaldo Balkman, Ethan Alvano, Caelan Tiongson at PJ Ramos para sa 12-7 run upang palawakin ang kanilang bentahe sa anim na puntos, 102-96 mula sa 90-89 mahigit dalawang minuto na lang ang natitira sa overtime period.

Sinundan naman agad ni Bobby Ray Parks Jr. ng floater para mapanatili ang malinis na kartada sa kanilang teritoryo sa 7-0 home win gayundin sa solo top spot sa 8-2 win-loss kartada.

Ang Mono Vampire, ang runner-up noong nakaraang taon ay bumaba sa 2-10 card.

“Mono Vampire’s record right now is very, very deceiving. I know they’ve had some early-season struggles, but that’s a really, really good team.  For me, I’m expecting them to go find their way because we still have more than half the season still to play before the playoffs start,” sabi ni Alapag ukol sa Mono Vampire ni coach Douglas Marty.

Umani ang Puerto Rican import na si Renaldo Balkman ng 38 puntos, kabilang na ang 20 sa first half.
