Cignal HD Spikers nagpalakas

MANILA, Philippines — Isang malakas na Cignal ang sasabak sa Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference na hahataw sa October 30 sa Filoil Flying V Centre sa San Juan City.

Kinumpirma ni coach Edgar Barroga ang paghugot nila kina Royse Tubino, Lutgarda Malaluan at Roselyn Doria para sa prestihiyosong women’s club league na itinataguyod ng Isuzu, Sogo, Senoh, Asics, Mikasa, Mueller, UCPB Gen, Bizooku at Genius Sports.

“We like our chances this conference. All our needs were addressed both on offense and defense,” ani Barroga sa mga bagong players ng HD Spikers.

Si Tubino, babandera sa opensa ng Cignal ay naging bahagi ng koponan na nagreyna sa Invitational Conference noong nakaraang taon habang sina Malaluan at Doria ang inaasahan sa depensa.

Magbabalik din si team captain Rachel Anne Daquis at makakatuwang nina mainstays Janine Navarro, Rialen Sante, Jheck Dionela, Acy Masangkay, Cherry Vivas, Cindy Amutan, May Macatuno, Rap Aguilar at Shirley Salamagos.

Sasandigan din ng HD Spikers si Mylene Paat, mi-yembro ng Philippine national team na lumahok sa nakaraang 18th Asian Games at AVC Asian Women’s Cup.

“Right now, we’re working on our chemistry inside and outside the court. As much as possible, we need a little more practice time with them so they can study our system and get into the flow of the team,” ani Barroga.

Noong nakaraang taon ay pumangatlo ang Cignal, hinawakan ni George Pascua, sa torneo kung saan ipinarada nila sina Jovelyn Gonzaga, Daquis at Tubino.

Ang Petron ang nagkampeon matapos talunin ang F2 Logistics sa championship.

“We’re slowly completing the pieces. It’s now a matter of making them work together,” ani Barroga. “Our goal this year is to match or surpass what we’ve accomplished last year. I know it’s not going to be easy, but I’m confident that the girls will all work hard to get it.”
