Jordan nag-donate ng $2-M sa mga hurricane victims

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Naglaro si NBA legend Michael Jordan ng high school basketball sa Wil-mington, North Carolina.

Kaya naman nang mapanood niya ang pananalasa ng “Hurricane Florence” sa kanyang hometown ay kaagad siyang tumulong.

Nagbigay ang six-time NBA champion at Charlotte Hornets owner ng $2 milyon para tulu-ngan ang mga residente ng Carolina — $1 mil-yon sa American Red Cross at Foundation For The Carolinas’ Hurricane Florence Response Fund.

“It just hits home,” sabi ni Jordan sa telephone interview ng The Associated Press. “I know all of those places: Wilmington, Fayetteville, Myrtle Beach, New Bern, and Wallace, which is where my father is from. So quite naturally it hits home, and I felt like I had to act in a sense that this is my home.”

Idinagdag ng 55-anyos na si Jordan na mayroon pa siyang tiyahin, mga pinsan at kaibigan na nakatira sa coastal North Carolina.

Mayroon din siyang pamangkin sa UNC Wil-mington, isinara dahil sa pagsalanta ng “Hurricane Florence.”

Pinanood niya sa telebisyon ang pagbayo ng hurricane Florence sa nasabing lugar na nagresulta sa 34 patay, ang 26 dito ay sa North Carolina.
