Vargas humanga sa IOC president
MANILA, Philippines — Bumilib si Philippine Olympic Committee president Ricky Vargas sa mga alituntunin ni bagong International Olympic Committee chief Thomas Bach.
“He gave me a lot of pointers, foremost of which was to enjoy my job. He also talked of the values of collaboration, getting engaged, friendship and building relations,” sabi ni Vargas kay Bach, isang German lawyer at Olympian fencer.
Nakasama ni Vargas si POC secretary-general Pato Gregorio sa pagbisita kay Bach sa IOC headquarters sa Lausanne, Switzerland.
Sila ay sinamahan ni IOC representative to the Philippines Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski.
Nakausap din ng tatlong sports officials sina Institutional Relations and Governance & NOC Relations head Jerome Polvey, Athletes Unit & Relations with OCA and Asian NOCs chief Olivier Niamkey at Director General Pere Miro.
Ibinahagi ng IOC Sports Department kina Vargas, Gregorio at Cojuangco-Jaworski ang tungkol sa Athletes Commission, Athletes Entourage Commission, Games Management Department at Sports and Active Society Commission.
Ipinasyal din sila sa Olympic Museum.
“What really impressed me most in the museum were the clarity of vision and the reason of the Olympic movement. And it is remarkable that it continues to be relevant and a vital contributor in the development of political relationships among the countries of the world,” sabi ni Vargas, nailuklok bilang bagong POC president apat na buwan na ang nakakaraan kapalit ni Jose ‘Peping’ Cojuagco, Jr., ama ni Cojuangco-Jaworski.
