Donaire pumirma ng bagong kontrata sa Top Rank
MANILA, Philippines – Lalabanan ni Donito Donaire si Mexican contender Cesar Juarez sa Dis-yembre matapos pumirma ng contract extension sa Top Rank Inc.
Iniulat ni Dan Rafael ng ESPN.com ang pagharap ni Donaire kay Juarez sa December 11 sa San Juan, Puerto Rico para sa kanyang hanga-ring muling makakuha ng world title.
Sinabi ni Top Rank chief Bob Arum kay Rafael na mismong si Donaire ang pumunta sa kanyang opisina para pumirma ng contract extension.
“Nonito came to the office to meet with me and sign the contract. And he said, ‘No more fooling around, no more being a celebrity. I’m a fighter and I’m going to work hard and stay in the gym and you will see the best Nonito Donaire you’ve ever seen,’” wika ni Arum.
“That’s what he told us in the office. I think Donaire is really serious now. He’s a great fighter and I don’t count him out against anybody,” dagdag pa ng veteran promoter.
Si Donaire ay nasa two-fight winning streak matapos mapabagsak ni Nicholas Walters sa kanilang featherweight title clash noong 2014.
Sinabi ng Filipino-American fighter na ang paglagda niya ng contract extension sa Top Rank ang magbibigay sa kanya ng tsansang makapagsuot muli ng boxing belt.
“I feel good about the deal. I’ve had some setbacks but I’ve put myself in good position with this deal,” wika ni Donaire.
Ayon naman kay Arum, kung mananalo si Donaire kay Juarez (17-3, 13 knockouts) ay maaari niyang makasagupa si WBO featherweight champion Vasyl Loma-chenko. (DM)
