‘This is surreal’ – Lea sa kanyang star sa Hollywood Walk of Fame
Naganap na ang hinihintay ng marami, ang pag-unveil ng star ni Lea Salonga sa Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Sa harap ng Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles naganap ang ceremony kung saan dumalo ang ilang celebrities na nakatrabaho ni Lea tulad nina Ming-Na Wen, Brandy at ang Fil-Am actors na sina Darren Criss at H.E.R.
“This is surreal. I have walked down this street many times. I’ve stepped on a lot of famous people, and now people get to step on me. Which feels strangely appropriate for show business.
“I was a little girl in the Philippines who loved to sing and perform. I started working when I was very young, and I certainly didn’t have some grand plan for how any of this was supposed to unfold. I just knew that I loved doing it. This career has taken me to places I never imagined I would go, introduced me to some extraordinary people, and allowed me to keep doing what I love,” sey ni Lea sa kanyang speech.
Sa kanyang history-making achievement as the first Filipina on the famous walk, maging inspirasyon daw sana ito sa ibang Filipino artists.
“I hope that someday a young Filipino kid comes to Hollywood, sees my name and thinks, ‘Oh, maybe I can get here too.’”
Bukod sa panalo niya ng Olivier at Tony Award para sa musical na Miss Saigon, ginawaran din si Lea bilang Disney Legend dahil sa kanyang singing voice sa mga Disney animation na Aladdin at Mulan.
Dito sa atin, tumanggap si Lea ng Presidential Medal of Merit for her services to the arts; Commander of the Order of Lakandula in recognition of using her talents to benefit Philippine society and foster cultural exchange and the Congressional Medal of Achievement for “opening the way for other Filipino artists to break into the finest theaters in the world.”
Tatanggap din si Lea ng Icon Award at the third annual Manila International Film Festival’s Gala at The Beverly Hilton.
3 pelikula ni Therese, may nominasyon sa Urian
Masayang-masaya si Kapuso actress Therese Malvar matapos ma-nominate ang dokumentaryong Food Delivery: Fresh from the West Philippine Sea sa 49th Gawad Urian.
Kabilang ito sa mga maglalaban-laban para sa Best Documentary sa prestihiyosong awards. Kasama si Therese sa proyekto hindi bilang aktres kundi bilang associate producer.
Tungkol ang dokyu sa mga karanasan ng mga Pilipinong mangingisda, navy at coast guard sa West Philippine Sea sa gitna ng banta ng China.
Nag-premiere ito noong nakaraang taon sa Doc Edge Film Festival sa New Zealand kung saan napanalunan nito ang Tides of Change Award.
Bukod sa Food Delivery, kasama rin si Therese sa dalawa pang pelikulang nominado sa Urian – ang Bar Boys: After School na may pitong nominasyon at ang historical film na Quezon na may10 nominasyon. Parehong nominado ang dalawa para sa Best Film.
Gaganapin ang gabi ng parangal ng 49th Gawad Urian ngayong October sa De La Salle University.
Sarah at Freddie, naging pribado kaya umabot sa 24 years ang kasal
Nag-celebrate ng kanilang 24th wedding anniversary last Sept. 1 ang Hollywood couple na sina Sarah Michelle Gellar at Freddie Prinze Jr.
Nag-post ang bida ng Buffy The Vampire Slayer ng ilang candid throwback photos nila ni Freddie sa Instagram.
“@realfreddieprinze can you imagine telling these kids where they would be 24 years later (well tech 26… but 24 married),” caption pa niya.
Unang nag-meet sa set ng 1997 film na I Know What You Did Last Summer sina Sarah at Freddie. Nagsama rin sila sa mga pelikulang Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2. Kinasal sila in 2002 sa El Careyes resort in Mexico at nagkaroon ng dalawang anak: Charlotte, 16, and Rocky, 13.
Isa raw sa secret ng kanilang strong marriage ay ang pagiging private nila kahit celebrities sila.
