Highly affected, Salve A., si Imelda Ilanan with the recent death of Nini Quezon Avanceña, the only living daughter of the late President Manuel Quezon.
She was reportedly exactly 100 years old.
Imelda’s husband, Ben, is a son of the prominent icon.
Imelda and Ben are parents to their only child, Misha.
Natatandaan naming minsang binanggit sa amin ni Imelda na, for a time, tumira sila sa isang bahay ng mga Quezon located sa New Manila. “Ang bait nila,” said Imelda of the Quezon-Avanceña family, “Ang suwerte ko na napabilang ako sa kanilang pamilya.”
Imelda, of course, is also the mother to actress cum educator Maricel Laxa whose dad naman was the late action star Tony Ferrer.
Maricel has a son, Donny Pangilinan, na following both hers and Imelda’s footsteps.
Another prominent icon na kapa-pass on lang din ay si Celia Diaz-Laurel, widow of the late Philippine Vice President Salvador Doy Laurel.
Kilalang theater actress, Ma’am Celia was the mother of the highly admired singer-actor Victor Laurel. Ma’am Celia was 93 naman.
Cast ng Sorsogon nakaalis na ng Maynila
By the time this issue of PM comes out, Salve A., baka nakaalis na ng Maynila ang buong cast ng I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, consisting of Heart Evangelista, Paolo Contis at Richard Yap.
A romantic drama series, directed by Mark Sicat dela Cruz also features Mavy Legaspi, isa sa kambal nina Zoren Legaspi at Carmina Villarroel.
The girl is Cassy, na katatapos lang mapanood sa highly admired series, First Yaya, which had Sanya Lopez playing the title role and Gabby Concepcion, as the Philippine president.
Gumanap si Cassy bilang isa sa apat na anak ni Gabby, na inalagaan sa First Yaya.
Sorsogon is a province in Bicol where the seating Governor is former Senator Chiz Escudero, kabiyak ni Heart.
Iza, nag-aaral maging teacher
Guess, Salve , what’s keeping Iza Calzado busy?
Aside, of course, from her showbiz work and being wife to Ben Wintle whom she married mga two years ago lang.
Well, nag-aaral daw siya to become a teacher.
Baka nga pala nakalimutan mo, Salve A., September na raw ang opening ng classes, ayon daw kay Presidente Duterte.
Grabe nga pala, ang inaasahang paghangang matatanggap ni Iza sa kanyang role as a mom suffering from schizophrenia, in the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode on July 24.
It’s common knowledge that Iza’s mom, a former flight stewardess, suffered a tragic death caused by depression.
Her dad naman, the late Lito Calzado, was a Filipino actor, choreographer at director.
Lito died November 11, 2011,
He would have turned 75 this year.
