Did we hear it right na Maja Salvador actually encouraged daw Kim Chiu to join her (Maja), nang mag-decide itong lumipat sa TV5?

But Kim obviously decided to stay put as a Kapamilya.

No need to tell you that Kim made a wise decision.

Balita kasing hindi keen ang GMA 7 to take Maja into its fold.

Willie Revillame, for one, whose game program, Wowowin, is aired on GMA 7, denied he has an offer for Maja to be his co-host.

JC at Janine, gusto ring magkasama sa serye

What excites JC Santos and Janine Gutierrez tungkol sa kanilang team-up, Dito at Doon, is that, bago pa man ito ipalabas sa mga sinehan dito sa Pilipinas on March 17, mapapanood na ito sa Osaka Asian Film Festival, from March 5 to 14.

Dito at Doon is a TBA Studios, with JP Habac directing.

Very now daw ang theme ng pelikula, kaya tiyak nina JC at Janine, pati na, of course, ni direk Habac, na magugustuhan ito ng manonood, both mga Pilipino at ng mga manonood nito sa filmfest sa Osaka.

Both JC and Janine look forward na muling makagawa ng movie or series together. They both consider it a pleasure na magkatrabahong muli.

Eddie Mesa, kilalang pastor sa Amerika

Last February 18, two showbiz icons, in their respective time, both very popular and in demand for work, marked their 81st birthday.

These are Eddie Mesa, dubbed as the Elvis Presley of the Philippines, as, onstage, he sings and dances like the popular international singer, and Perla Bautista.

Handsome, too, and a good actor, isa siya sa pinaka-popular talents ng Premiere Productions, one of the top three local movie productions in the ‘60s.

As expected, he and his actress-wife, Rosemarie Gil, became parents to equally good and popular actors, too, namely, Michael de Mesa, Cherie Gil and the late Mark Gil.

Sumunod din sa kanilang mga yapak ang kanilang mga apo, gaya nina Geoff at Ryan Eigenmann (Eddie’s real surname), anak ni Michael at dating asawang si Gina Alajar, now an actress-director, Sid Lucero at Andi Eigenmann, na ang ama naman ay si the late Mark Gil.

Both Michael at Cherie are in demand bilang performers. Samantalang semi-retired both naman sina Sid at Andi.

In any case, what’s keeping Eddie and Rosemarie currently busy, that they are now, both totally retired, kumbaga, and are based in the US, is Eddie’s work bilang pastor sa isang kilalang congregation.

Perla, wala pang balak iwan ang career

Of Perla Bautista naman, active pa rin siya sa showbiz.

In fact, bago, kumbaga, nag-stop producing ang ABS-CBN, dahil nga hindi na-approve ang application nito for franchise, nasa cast si Perla ng series, Pamilya Ko, co-starring her with Sylvia Sanchez, Joey Marquez, JM de Guzman, Kiko Estrada at Arci Muñoz.

Pa-guest-guest lang daw si Perla sa kasaluku­yan sa ilang shows na ipinoprodyus ng Kapamilya.

Otherwise raw, she keeps herself busy attending to her husband’s need at taking care of her mga apo sa nag-iisang anak na si Jude.

In her time, Perla was a favorite leading lady ng dating aktor na naging presidente ng Pilipinas and, later, mayor ng Manila, Joseph Estrada.
