Cherie walang nakitang star quality noon kay Ruru!

Kahit na galing sa isang kilalang showbiz family si Cherie Gil, nasubukan din daw nitong dumaan sa auditions noong nagsisimula pa lang siya na maging artista.

Naalala ni Cherie na nag-audition siya para sa isang musical titled Sinta. Sinamahan pa raw siya ng mother niyang si Rosemarie Gil sa audition na ginanap sa Sampaguita Studios. “I was like 14-years old then. Pinag-audition ako ni mommy. But I was too young for the role daw kaya hindi nila ako pinili.

“But of course, medyo disappointed ako when I didn’t get picked. Sabi ni mommy sa akin na gano’n talaga. Hindi porke’t anak ako ng artista, ako ang pipiliin.

“When I was 5-years old naman, I auditioned and joined the Little Miss Shellane contest. Yung Shellane gas tank na para sa gas stove. Remember that TV commercial noon na may blue fairy na lumilipad. I wanted to be that fairy kasi para siyang si Tinkerbell.

“I remember when they asked me why I joined the contest, I said I wanted to fly like the fairy in Shellane.

“Well, I wasn’t the winner. First runner-up lang ako and I lost to Jackie Castillejo who became one of my best friends,” pag-throwback pa ni Cherie.

Kaya kahit paano ay nakaka-relate si Cherie sa contestants ng Starstruck Season 7 kung saan isa siya sa member ng council with Heart Evangelista-Escudero and Jose Manalo.

Pinakanaaalala ni Cherie na contestant doon ay si Ruru Madrid na para sa kanya that time ay walang star quality. “Oh my gosh, si Ruru, I remember him well. Ang payat-payat niya and he can’t even dance. Pero gusto siya ng maraming tao. Dun ka magtataka, eh. Bakit siya gusto eh wala akong makitang proof that he can be a big star.

“That’s what you call a diamond in the rough. Ang diamond naman hindi siya maganda sa umpisa, but you have to clean it out, shape it to make it beautiful. Yun ang nangyari kay Ruru. Now he’s so handsome, well-built and he’s very popular. That’s a good example of somebody who didn’t win, pero mas sikat pa siya kesa dun sa nanalo,” pagtatapos pa ni Cherie Gil.

Jennifer Lawrence at fiancé low key ang gustong kasal

Nasa gitna na ng pagplano ng kanilang wedding ang Oscar winner na si Jennifer Lawrence at ang fiance niyang si Cooke Maroney.

After na ma-engage ang dalawa noong February 2019, nagkaroon sila ng engagement party in New York noong April. Pinagpipilian pa ng couple ang magiging wedding location nila.

“They are both very low key and down to earth and want nothing more than to avoid a ‘stuffy, pretentious’ atmosphere. Their vision is traditional with a relaxed and causal ceremony, they mainly just want to share their love with friends and family and to express their happiness to those closest to them,” ayon sa report ng Entertainment Tonight.
