Actor and biker Jericho Rosales.

MANILA, Philippines — Traffic cost in the Philippines has worsened over the past years, costing P3.5 billion a day and has been estimated to surge to P6 billion a day by 2030,

Heavy traffic has affected not only the country’s economy, but most especially working people like Jericho Rosales.

In an interview with Philstar.com on Wednesday night, Jericho explained how traffic could be solved.

The actor appealed to control vehicle volume in the streets and asked his fellow motorists to follow traffic rules as violations contribute to heavy traffic even more.

Jericho, together with new Wrangler jeans brand ambassador Arci Munoz, launched the brand's new True Wanderer campaign. Now in its fourth year, the campaign aims to choose travelers who would explore different parts of the country and experience for themselves the places’ unique culture, food and way of life. Stories of their three-day trip will be uploaded online for the public to vote on. The traveler with the most votes will be declared the winner.

Besides Jericho, other celebrities have also expressed dismay for the worsening traffic along Metro Manila’s main thoroughfare, Epifanio de los Santos Avenue or EDSA.

In January, actor Khalil Ramos shared it took him three hours to travel from Paranaque to Makati.

In a Twitter post last January 31, actress Anne Curtis tweeted a proposal on how to relieve traffic along EDSA.

Anne said it would be nice to have a sky walk along EDSA since people like her will not mind walking as long as the pathway would be kept clean and safe. She said she has actually been "hopeful" she could run to work instead of waste time in heavy traffic. — Video by Deni Rose M. Afinidad-Bernardo, editing by EC Toledo IV
