Obiena, Juico magbati na kayo--Ramirez

MANILA, Philippines — Hiniling kahapon ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez ang pagbabati nina national pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena at athletics head Philip Ella Juico.

Ito ay para tuluyan nang maplantsa ang sigalot ng dalawa kaugnay sa problema sa isinumiteng liquidation papers ng Tokyo Olympian para sa coaching fee ng  kanyang Ukrainian trainer na si Vitaly Petrov.

“Sa akin, pakiusap lang sana, magpakumbaba kayo sa isa’t isa kasi mediation is still the best option,” wika ni Ramirez sa ‘People, Sports, Conversations’ program ng PSC. “Kung ayaw ninyo ng mediation, mag-usap na lang kayong dalawa. You try to read your Bible regardless of your religion.”

Kamakailan ay tinanggihan ni Obiena ang alok na mediation ng PSC dahil sa kawalan niya ng tiwala sa Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) president na si Juico.

Noong Miyerkules sa General Assembly ay opisyal nang idineklara ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) na persona non grata si Juico.

“I may now be persona non grata in the eyes of the POC, but this will not distract us in our quest for truth, accountability, transparency and justice in our federation,” wika ni Juico.

Sa kabila ng mga nangyari ay bukas pa rin ang pintuan ng PSC para sa mediation. “There should be a voluntary willingness from both parties, something that is not possible at the moment but PSC is open for that,” wika ni Ramirez. “It is the best option we have.”
