MANILA, Philippines — Hangga’t wala pang kontratang pinipirmahan si Aldin Ayo ay mananatiling nakabitin ang pagpasok ng two-time college champion mentor sa Converge bilang bagong head coach.

Sa kanilang official statement kahapon ay pinasalamatan nina team owner Dennis Uy at governor Chito Salud si Jeffrey Cariaso para sa pag-akay nito sa FiberXers sa quarterfinal round ng 2022 PBA Philippine Cup.

“His experience as a player with an illustrious career undoubtedly inspired our young team to reach the playoff stage,” wika ni Uy sa dating PBA guard.

Ngunit hindi nabanggit ang pagsalo ng 44-anyos na si Ayo sa naiwang trabaho ng 49-anyos na si Cariaso, isang eight-time PBA champion bilang pla­yer.

“His significant insights and qualitative understan­ding of the game will serve him well in his next assignment,” ani Salud kay Cariaso. “Our organization is grateful for Jeff’s role in bringing stability to the team especially during the transition phase.”

Ayon kay Ayo, giniyahan ang Letran Knights sa NCAA crown noong 2015 at ang De La Green Archers sa UAAP title noong 2016, wala pa siyang ‘format commitment’ sa Converge.

“I am preoccupied at the moment with the chemotherapy of my mother,” sabi ni Ayo noong Martes ng gabi. “But I am flattered that I’m being considered as the head coach of the Converge FiberXers.”
