Cone irerekomenda si Kai sa Heat
MANILA, Philippines — Tutulungan ni Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone si Kai Sotto na makapaglaro sa NBA sa kanyang munting paraan.
Ayon sa two-time PBA Grand Slam champion mentor, babanggitin niya kay Fil-Am coach Eric Spoelstra ng Miami Heat ang 7-foot-3 teen sensation sa kanyang pagpunta sa Las Vegas, Nevada para sa NBA Summer League.
Tinanggap kasi ni Cone ang alok na maging miyembro ng coaching staff ng Heat sa Summer League na magsisimula sa susunod na buwan.
“I will, if I get there. And I do my morning talk with Spo, I will definitely ask him about Kai,” pagtiyak ni Cone. “Hopefully, he’ll be there and everybody will see him, not just Miami. I really care if a few teams pick him up. I really, really care.”
Hindi si Spoelstra, nagbigay sa Miami ng tatlong NBA championships noong 2006, 2012 at 2013, ang hahawak sa Heat team sa Summer League kundi ang assistant niyang si Malik Allen.
Bigo si Sotto na mapili sa katatapos lang na NBA Rookie Draft kasama ang 225 na hindi rin nakuha.
Naniniwala si Cone na mas makakabuti sana sa 20-anyos na si Sotto na sumalang sa NBA Summer League na nilalahukan ng mga undrafted at free agents.
“I think the next best thing for him is the Summer League and then see if he can get the playing time and showcase his skills,” payo ni Cone kay Sotto na naglalaro sa National Basketball League (NBL) ng Australia.
