Duterte dinoble ang insentibo ng mga SEA Games medalists

MANILA, Philippines — Kagaya ng inaasahan, binigyan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ng cash bonus ang mga national athletes na nag-uwi ng 52 gold, 70 silver at 105 bronze medals mula sa nakaraang 31st Southeast Asian Games sa Hanoi, Vietnam.

Dinoble ng Presidente ang insentibong matatanggap ng mga SEA Games medalists sa ilalim ng Republic Act 10699 kung saan ang gold medal ay may katumbas na P300,000 at P150,000 at P60,000 para sa silver at bronze, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

“It is not really in the winning, but going there just to give a country an image. Maligaya ako na mada­ming medalya ang nakuha natin,” ani Duterte sa courtesy call ng mga Pinoy athletes sa Malacañang kamakalawa ng gabi.

Nangangahulugan na dodoblehin ng Chief Executive ang kabuuang P34,537,500 cash incentives na natanggap ng mga SEA Games winners mula sa Republic Act 10699.

Tumapos sa fourth  place ang Team Philippines sa Vietnam SEAG bagama’t malaking epekto sa performance ng mga atleta ang nangyaring pandemya.

“President Duterte was very pleased by the performance of our athletes in the last Vietnam SEA Games and doubling their incentives is his way of recognizing and sho­wing his appreciation for their efforts,” ani Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez.
