Malditas may sapat na panahon para sa 2023 FIFA World Cup

Russell Cadayona - Pilipino Star Ngayon

MANILA, Philippines — May walong buwan pa ang World No. 64 Philippine national women’s football team para paghandaan ang prestihiyosong 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Kasama sa preparasyon ng Malditas ang pagsabak sa 31st Southeast Asian Games sa Hanoi, Vietnam sa Mayo, AFF Women’s Championship sa Manila at 19th Asian Games sa Hangzhou, China sa Setyembre.

“We have eight months to prepare for the World Cup. I’m sure they will do everything that we can as a country to give those players the maximum possible chances of performing at that stage,” sabi ni head coach Alen Stajcic.

Nakatakda ang FIFA World Cup sa Hulyo 20 hanggang Agosto 20 ng 2023 na pamamahalaan ng Australia at New Zealand.

“The bar of the performance has been raised. The expectations now for the country has been raised and now, everyone has to come on board,” dagdag ng Australian mentor.

Nagwakas ang hangarin ng national squad na makapasok sa kauna-unahan nilang AFC Women’s Asian Cup finals nang makalasap ng 0-2 kabiguan sa World No. 18 South Korea sa semifinals kamakalawa.

Nauna nang nakamit ng mga Pinay booters ang makasaysayang World Cup berth matapos takasan ang World. No. 39 Chinese-Taipei, 4-3, sa penalty shootout sa kanilang quarterfinals match.
