Pinoy cyclists hahakot ng ginto sa Vietnam SEAG
MANILA, Philippines — Malalampasan ng Philippine national cycling team ang naipadyak na bilang ng gintong medalya sa nakaraang 30th Southeast Asian Games noong 2019.
Ito ang paniniwala ni Philippine Navy Standard Insurance Group chairman at cycling patron Ernesto “Judes” Echauz sa pagsabak ng mga national riders sa 2021 SEA Games sa Hanoi, Vietnam sa Nobyembre 21 hanggang Disyembre 2.
Kabuuang tatlong gold, apat na silver at apat na bronze medals ang inangkin ng national cycling team noong 2019 edition ng biennial event na pinamahalaan ng bansa.
Sina Lea Denise Belgira (mountain bike, women’s downhill), Jermyn Prado (road cycling, women’s time trial) at John Derick Farr (mountain bike, men’s downhill) ang pumadyak sa tatlong gintong medalya.
“We’ve seen the caliber of the other women’s teams and I think we have the best in Southeast Asia and comparable to the best in Asia itself,” ani Echauz.
Kumpiyansa rin si Echauz sa tsansa ng national men’s team na makapag-uwi ng gold mula sa 2021 Vietnam SEA Games.
“We’ve learned the new techniques. We think we would be able to improve the gold for the team time trial and including the individual,” ani Echauz.
