Sa 2021 Vietnam SEA Games

MANILA, Philippines — Ang sapat na pondo at magandang preparasyon ang magpapalakas sa tsansa ng Pilipinas para sa back-to-back overall championship sa 31st  Southeast Asian Games sa susunod na taon.

Ito ay sa kabila ng ginawang pagtatapyas ng 2021 SEA Games host Vietnam sa 15 sports kung saan kumolekta ang mga Filipino athletes ng 56 gold medals para maging overall king noong 2019 edition.

“It’s really a question of budget and preparation. That’s how we did it in the last SEA Games. So we’re not going to change our programs,” wika ni Philippine Sports Commissioner Ramon Fernandez sa PSC Hour.

“We know what it takes to win. So it’s just a matter of getting support from the Congress and the Senate for our preparation.”

Inangkin ng Team Phi­lippines ang 149 sa kabuuang 530 gold medals sa inilistang 56 sports para angkinin ang overall crown ng 2019 SEA Games.

Ngunit para sa 2021 SEA Games ay inisyal na 450 events mula sa 36 sports ang inilatag ng Vietnam para sa kanilang ikalawang pamamahala sa SEA Games matapos noong 2003.

Inalis ng Vietnam SEAG  Organizing Committee para sa 2021 biennial edition ang arnis, skateboarding, obstacle course, jiujitsu, e-sports, sailing, soft tennis, triathlon, sambo, surfing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, modern pentathlon, baseball, duathlon, rugby, softball at squash na pinaghugutan ng mga Pinoy bets ng pinagsamang 58 gold medals noong 2019 edition.

Inaapela ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham ‘Bambol’ Tolentino na maidagdag ang mga Olympic sports na triathlon, skateboarding at modern pentathlon pati na ang obstacle racing, sambo, esports, BMX cycling at arnis.

“We’re hoping that some of those sports that are not there initially ay maipasok naman,” sabi ni Fernandez sa 2021 Vietnam SEA Games na idaraos sa Nobyembre 21 hanggang Disyembre 2.
