Scholarship grants lilimitahan ng Letran

MANILA, Philippines — Ang ekonomiya ng Pilipinas ay apektado ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Kaya naman napilitan ang Letran na limitahan ang pagbibigay ng scholarship sa kanilang mga student-athletes.

“Our rector president (Fr. Clarence Marquez, OP) has set the limit for scholarship grants at 372, which is usually the same number of athletes we field yearly in the NCAA,” wika ni Jhennie Caldito-Villar, ang Letran spokesperson at directress ng office of alumni and public affairs.

Idinagdag ni Villar na wala silang balak buwagin ang kanilang sports team.

“It showed that Fr. Marquez still has a heart for the athletes despite this trying times,” wika ng Letran official.

Nilinaw naman ni Villar na ang mga babawasang bilang ng student-athletes ay mula sa mga institution-initiated teams o events kagaya ng grassroots pool at juniors team B.

“We have already implemented cuts in their scho­larship grants in the past, which were performance and academic-based. It can be that the 75-percent scholarship will become 100-percent or 100-percent to 75-percent,” ani pa ni Villar.
