Estudyante ilibre sa panonood ng 30th SEA Games--Romero

MANILA, Philippines — Hiniling ni Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero (1Pacman Partylist) kahapon sa Department of Education at sa Phi­lippine SEA Games Organizing Committee na payagan ang mga estudyante na manood ng pinakamalaking regional sports festival nang libre.

“We have state-of-art athletics and swimming centers but it will look ugly if there are no student-cheerers,” wika ni Romero.

Ayon pa kay Romero, lalahok sa biennial meet bilang miyembro ng Philippine polo team, dapat magtakda ang Phisgoc ng lugar para sa mga estudyante, lalo na ang mga mula sa Tarlac at Pampanga, na magtsi-cheer hindi lamang sa mga Pinoy kundi maging sa mga atleta ng ibang bansa.

Bilang dating amateur basketball ‘godfather” ay alam ni Romero kung gaano kahalaga ang crowd support para sa hangarin ng Team Philippines na maduplika ang ‘Miracle of 2005’.

“We did it 14 years ago so I see no reason why we can’t duplicate our golden achievements during the 23rd SEA Games. With President Duterte’s total support and crowd support I’m confident we can do it again,” wika ni Romero, isa sa mga founding directors ng Philippine National Federation of Polo Players.

Nakatakda ang biennial meet sa Nobyembre 30 hanggang Disyembre 11 kung saan ang opening ay gagawin sa Philippine Arena sa Bulacan at ang closing ceremony ay sa New Clark City sa Capas, Tarlac.

Nang huling pamahalaan ng bansa ang SEA Games noong 2005 ay kumolekta ang mga Pinoy athletes ng kabuuang 113 gold medals na 26 ang agwat sa perennial champion Thailand.
