Polo kasama na sa 30th SEAG
MANILA, Philippines — Malaki ang pasasalamat ni Rep. Mikee Romero sa tulong ng Philippine Olympic Committee para mapasama ang Polo bilang pang-56th sports disciplines na kasali sa 30th Southeast Asian Games na gaganapin dito sa bansa ngayong Nov. 30 hanggang Dec. 11.
“It was a huge relief for all of us after PHISGOC gave us the green light to stage our sport. All our efforts did not go down the drain and we thank Mr. Ricky Vargas and Rep. Bambol Tolentino for their all-out support,” sabi ni Romero, ang Chairman Emeritus ng United Polo Players Association (UPPA).
Tatlong gintong medalya ang paglalabanan sa Polo sa SEAG na lalahukan ng mahigit 11 na bansa mula sa Southeast Asian region.
Natuwa rin si Peter Predevilla, ang presidente ng Federation International Polo Zone D sa pagsali ng Polo sa Bienneal Games.
Sa pagkakasama ng Polo sa SEA Games, magsasanib puwersa sina Romero, UPPA president Coco Garcia at Secretary-General Jun Juban upang mapadali ang upgrading ng kanilang facilities at pagpapagawa sa iba pang playing grounds.
“Hopefully we can produce the first gold and set things in motion for Team Philippines,” ani Romero.
