UP �di pa isusuko ang laban

MANILA, Philippines — Matapos mabigo sa Game 1, nangako ang Uni­versity of the Philippines Fighting Maroons na babawi sila laban sa nagdedepensang Ateneo Blue Eagles sa Game 2 ng best-of-three Finals series ng Season 81 UAAP men’s basketball tourney ngayong Miyerkules.

“Ang Masasabi ko lang ay ‘yung team namin gutom talaga kami kaya hindi namin papakawalan ang chance na binigay sa amin ng Lord. Next game, babawi  talaga kami,” sabi ni Jun Manzo na umiskor ng career-high 19 puntos sa kanilang 79-88 talo noong Sabado.

Ayon  naman kay D­iego Dario na kailangan nilang gumawa ng adjustments lalung-lalo na sa end-game para maitabla ang serye na tinaguriang “Battle of Katipunan.

“Nagkulang kami sa end game execution. We had two turnovers I think in the last four minutes so we have to work on that, be more disciplined especially in the end game.  We just have to make adjustments. I told them to keep their heads up,” ayon kay Dario.

Sa panig naman ni UP sophomore star Juan Gomez de Liaño hindi pa tapos ang laban kaya babawi sila sa susunod na laro.

“Hope the refs do a better job officiating on wednesday man for real,” pahayag ni Juan GDL sa kanyang twitter account.

Inamin naman ni A­te­neo star Thirdy Ravena na hindi birong kalaban ang Fighting Maroons kaya inaasahan niya ang magandang laban sa Game 2.

“Hindi biro ang UP. They are a different team from the team we met noong elimination round,” paha­yag ni Ravena.

Kahit si Ateneo coach Tab Baldwin ay umaasa ng mas-mahirap na pagtatagpo sa susunod na laro.

“They (UP) are much more determined, much more cohesive. They understand their personnel, they understand how to create shots much better now, and they understand how to play for one ano­ther,” sabi ni coach Baldwin.
