TOKYO -- Ipinagmalaki ni Philippine Swimming League (PSL) President Susan Papa ang tagumpay ni Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh na bumasag ng rekord sa open division sa girls’ 11-12 category.

PSL tankers humakot ng 11 gold medals

TOKYO — Umarang­ka­­da na ang Philippine Swimming League (PSL) nang sumisid ng 11 ginto, 10 pilak at tatlong tansong medalya tampok ang bagong record-breaking performance ni Micaela Jas­mine Mojdeh sa ikalawang araw ng 2018 Japan Age-Group Swimming Championship sa St. Mary’s International School swimming pool dito.

Inilabas ng Immaculate Heart of mary College-Pa­rañaque standout ang kanyang matikas na porma sa girls’ 11-12 100m butterfly nang magtala ng isang minuto at 6.86 segundo upang wasakin ang 1:07.85 rekord ni Japanese Hannah Kwamura sa open division noong 2013.

Binura rin ni Mojdeh ang area record ni Sim Mi­negishi ng Japan na 1:09.15 may 28 taon na ang nakalilipas.

Humataw pa ng dala­wang ginto si Mojdeh sa 100m breaststroke (1:08.96) at 200m Indivi­dual Medley (2:33.02) para ma­garbong simulan ang kanyang kampanya.

“It was a stunning per­for­mance from the amazing Jasmine Mojdeh, breaking the open and area records registered more than 20 years ago. We’re so elated with our swimmers’ sho­wing here and we’re expec­ting more in the coming event,” sabi ni PSL Pre­si­dent Susan Papa.

Nagpasiklab din si Ri­chelle Anne Callera nang mamayagpag sa girls’ 8-under -25m butterfly sa bilis na 17.52 segundo para pan­tayan ang rekord na 17.52 sa open division na pag-aari ni Ai Uchiyama no­ong 2008.

Nakasiguro rin ng ginto si Callera sa 100m IM (1:33.06) para maidagdag sa kanyang naunang ginto sa 25m freestyle event sa ope­ning day.

Humakot naman ng tat­long gintong medalya si Coby Marcus Rivera sa boys’ 9-10 200m IM (2:48.24), 100m butterfly (1:16.59) at 50m backstroke (36.26), habang nag­dagdag pa ng dalawang ginto si opening-day gold medalist Aishel Cid Evangelista sa boys’ 8-under 100m IM (1:25.28) at 25m butterfly (17.69), ga­yundin si Kiara Acierto sa girls’ 8-under 25m backstroke (22.20).

Nakahirit din ng pilak na medalya sina Wisenheimer Aca­demy tanker Marc Bryan Dula sa boys’ 11-12 100m butterfly (1:11.68) at 50m backstroke (34.42); Julia Ysabelle Basa sa girls’ 9-10 200m IM (3:04.91); Albren Jan Dayapdapan sa boys’ 13-14 200m breaststroke (2:33.79) at 100m backstroke (1:10.53); Triza Ta­bamo sa girls’ 9-10 50m freestyle (31.21) at 50m backstroke (36.53); Acierto sa 25m butterfly (19.62); at ang girls’ 200m crescendo medley relay (2:25.41) at boys’ 200m crescendo medley relay (2:07.09).

“We won’t be tired of ex­pressing our gratitude to the Filipino community here in Japan especially Myles Briones Beltran, Hi­roshi Katsumata, Arnel Pun­zalan, Lovely Ishii and Sa­chiko Inose for helping us. They’re are such a big help to us and we’re so thankful to them,” wika pa ni Papa sa mga taong tu­mutulong sa kanila.

Sa kabuuan ay mayroon nang 13 gold, 11 silver at 4 bronze medals ang PSL squad sa torneong ni­l­­ahukan ng Japan, China at iba’t ibang koponan mula sa Europa.
