Valdez dadaan sa proseso para makasama sa SEAG Nat’l team
MANILA, Philippines - Handa si three-time UAAP MVP Alyssa Valdez na dumaan sa tamang proseso upang maging bahagi ng national team na isasabak sa 29th Southeast Asian Games na gaganapin sa Agosto 19 hanggang 31 sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Tutugon ang 23-anyos na open hitter sa inihayag ni national team coach Francis Vicente na kinakailangang mag-tryout ang lahat ng mga manlalarong nagnanais maging bahagi ng pambansang koponan.
“One of the main key for us to form a competitive team, we have to have committed players from the start and it has to be fair for everyone when it comes to the player selection and all should follow the rules,” wika ni Valdez.
Nakatakdang maglaro si Valdez sa Thailand Volleyball League kasama ang koponang 3BB Nakornnont. Ngunit tiniyak nito na hindi magiging hadlang ang kanyang paglalaro sa Thailand sakaling mapili ito sa national team.
“I don’t think Thailand hinder me to play for the Philippines. We just really have to fix our schedule and find a way. Hopefully, all my schedule will fall into place. That is also my goal ko as an athlete, to represent the country in the international arena. That’s why I’m trying different things to contribute to Philippine volleyball,” aniya.
Unang naglaro si Valdez sa Singapore SEA Games noong 2015 kung saan tumayo rin itong flag bearer ng pambansang delegasyon.
Nais ni Valdez na gamitin ang karanasang makukuha nito sa Thai league upang makatulong sa national team na naghahangad na maibalik ang ningning ng Pilipinas.
“One conference at a time. I think we just have to focus on that first step and eventually good things will come out of it. It’s a good opportunity for us to try our luck there and hopefully there are more players from our country who can also get the same opportunity I have,” wika pa ni Valdez.
