A new French Bistrot in Manila

Bistrot Le Coucou brings the allure of a Parisian bistrot to Manila. It is a charming restaurant that offers traditional French bistrot fare and other European dishes. The newly opened restaurant is designed for both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations.
“Bistro,” which is sometimes spelled bistrot, comes from the Russian word that means “quick.”
Featuring an extensive wine list showcasing a wide selection from various countries, Bistrot Le Coucou (the French word for cuckoo) elevates the dining experience through well crafted pairings.

Their menu reflects their commitment to simplicity, quality, and seasonality. They draw inspiration from the rich traditions of French/European gastronomy as their dishes are meticulously crafted using the freshest seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers. From classic bistrot fare to innovative creations, each dish is designed to elevate and complement the nuances of their carefully vast wine selection. Whether you’re exploring wine from Burgundy or savoring a glass of Bordeaux or enjoying Champagne, their menu is crafted to enhance your wine-drinking experience.

Bistrot Le Coucou offers a refined selection of classic European bistro fare with tempting appetizers, hearty mains, and decadent desserts. French favorites such as escargot, onion soup, the mousse-like and silky chicken liver paté, entrecote & frites (fried in duck fat) served with the their Café de Paris sauce, duck confit, and tarte tatin (a tart topped with caramelized fruit in butter and sugar that are usually apples). The entrecote is huge and meant to be shared. Try to catch a fresh shipment of percebes or goose neck barnacles from France! This is one of my favorites and tastes like the ocean and (was) almost impossible to get fresh here in Manila! Of course oysters are always on the menu!

Behind Le Coucou are Carlo and Jackie Lorenzana who are also behind the popular restaurants Nikkei, Nikkei Robata, Nikkei Nama Bar, Den by Nikkei, Sakagura, Alma, Casa Martinez, and Terraza Martinez. The chef behind Le Coucou is Luis Martinez who also conceptualized the menu. He has been cooking since he was a child and though his expertise is Spanish food, he can clearly whip up classic French dishes as well!
