Coffins and skulls encourage people to stay home in Pampanga

Agence France-Presse

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities in the country display empty coffins at checkpoints in Santo Tomas, Pampanga, with the message "Stay at Home or Stay inside" (the coffin).

The macabre imagery is intended to remind people to self-isolate and stay indoors during the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

The main island of Luzon, home to 55 million people, is in the second week of a lockdown to contain the spread of the disease, however medics are warning there is a surge in cases.
