MANILA, Philippines — National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Eleazar on Wednesday chided a police officer of Pasay City arrested for demanding money from a drug suspect.

Police Officer III Sajid Anwar Nasser of Pasay City Police was nabbed early Wednesday for allegedly extorting money from the family of a detained drug suspect in exchange for freedom.

The drug enforcement team of Pasay City Police Station 1 reportedly asked P100,000 for the liberty of drug suspect George Revilla, according to his partner Joan Dela Torre.

Eleazar then led an entrapment operation early Wednesday at the Pasay City Police Station 1 and managed to arrest Nasser.

The NCRPO chief personally confronted Nasser, reminding him of his duty as a police officer.

Six other cops, who were also reportedly involved in the incident, fled with the money before the entrapment operation.

The entire drug team of the Pasay Police station was relieved from office, including its chief, Senior Superintendent Noel Flores.

Aside from the Pasay City Police, NCRPO also arrested Police Corporal Marlo Quibete of Marikina City for extortion of P200,000 in exchange for freedom of drug suspect Aries Ochoada. He was also apprehended in a buy-bust operation and was confronted by Eleazar.
