The Department of Tourism suggested a list of nearby “must-experience” tourist destinations in Western Visayas while Boracay is temporarily closed.

AKLAN, Philippines — The Department of Tourism has recommended eight tourist destinations nearby Boracay while the island is momentarily closed.

The DOT issued notice to tourists and traveling public of the temporary closure of Boracay for six months starting April 26. 

This notice is posted in Kalibo International Airport.

It added a suggestion of nearby “must-experience” tourist destinations in Western Visayas.

Here’s a list and video of the areas tourists can visit while the government rehabilitates the island of Boracay:

Aklan

  • Javili Falls, Jawili Tangalan
  • Pangihan Cave, Katipunan, Malay
  • Ariel's Cave, Alegria, Buruanga
  • Basura Garden, Poblacion, Balete
  • Katunggan it Ibajay, Bugtong Bato-Naisud, Ibajay
  • Piña Weaving Industry (La Herminia, Heritage Arts and Crafts, Dela Cruz House of Piña)
