MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines on Thursday welcomed 1,724 new lawyers, who had to hurdle at least four years of law school and a four-day exam.

Minutes after seeing their names being flashed on a screen at the Supreme Court quadrangle, these newly-minted lawyers recalled how it was for them to soldier on during review and with whom they share their success:
