WATCH: Emotional Pia says Miss Universe crown her 'happily ever after'

MANILA, Philippines - Pia Wurtzbach was teary-eyed and emotional when she faced the press during a news conference on Sunday.

The news conference is part of the 26-year-old beauty queen's grand homecoming, her first time to come home to the Philippines after winning the Miss Universe crown on Dec. 20, 2015.

In a speech before the event's Q & A, Pia said, referring to the Miss Universe pageant, "I've never been more proud to be a Filipina."

"I've always believed it could happen," she added.

Pia said taking home the Miss Universe crown is the "happily ever after that I've been dreaming for, for a lifetime."

"It's not just my dream but the dream of every Filipino," she said.

Pia is also happy that she was able to wear a Filipino-made gown during the Miss Universe pageant.

Pia is the third Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown, after Margie Moran and Gloria Diaz.
