VIRAL: Filipino soldier claims discrimination at 'Korean' lounge in Kalibo airport

MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino soldier who is returning to duty in Mindanao after his New Year's Leave was allegedly barred from entering the premises of an airport lounge at the Kalibo International Airport (KIA) because it was for Koreans only.

Ryan Layug posted the incident on the Internet over the weekend and it immediately went viral. On his post, he detailed the "discriminatory treatment" he said he has experienced as he was trying to book a stay at the airport lounge.

The post had been shared more than 46,000 times as of January 4.

After the ruckus, however,  Layug posted an apology for dragging the name of the Discovery Boracay Hotel  and Spa as it was identified that the lounge is not under their management but is being rented by Korean company Domabem Corp.

The KIA has also responded to the issue by posting on Facebook saying that, Discovery Boracay Hotel and Spa is not  exclusive to any nationality. It also added that the hotel does not regulate the lounge's rules and regulations.
