Dance, but not the Cha-cha

The Philippine Star

Here we go again! Our legislators want to go dancing again…with the Constitution.

For the past how many years, it has always been to the tune of “Let’s amend the economic provisions to get more foreign investments to create more jobs” but somehow political “chu-chu-was” always manage to sneak in their own agendas – like term extensions, changing the form of government, putting in a prime minister, etc etc.

So now there is PI – People’s Initiative supposedly – to amend the Constitution. With rumors of P100 and other “incentives” in exchange for one’s signature on the PI form and some who have signed claiming they were fooled or tricked into signing a form they did not even read, this is surely out of step. They should immediately stop the music for this PI dance!

Making the Comelec verify the thousands of signatures is a total waste of time, effort and money. Stop it na!

Since the restrictive economic provisions can be corrected by legislation anyway, as it has been done, let’s just have the lawmakers earn their keep, the millions we spend on 24 senators and 300+ tong-gressmen.

Let’s dance – ballet, tango, even break dance, but not Cha-cha! — Inez Corazon Dela Paz, Sta. Rosa, Laguna
