Mask & vaxx

The Philippine Star

We’re experiencing some form of surge in COVID-19 cases, with health officials warning us about not just rising cases but rising admissions in hospitals. The latter is the more worrisome part, since merely getting infected with mild or no symptoms has become some sort of regular thing.

So should we be concerned about the continuing increase in cases?

I think this is just another reminder that COVID-19 is still very much around, and while after more than two years it is no longer as frightening or as deadly as it was in 2020, it is still a disease and is not to be taken for granted.

What to do? The same as what we have been doing all through this pandemic:

• Wear a mask, it’s not that hard to do (masks are quite cheap now) and no, it is not an infringement on your human rights to be asked to wear a mask.

• Get vaccinated, over 70 million Pinoys and millions all over the world have been vaccinated, and no one has turned into a zombie. Just check with your doctor if you have other health concerns, but for your sake and the sake of your family, friends, please get the jabs; they’re still free.

Then we can go about and live our lives – just be careful, mask and vaxx. Stay healthy! – Annie Gonzales, Sta. Ana, Manila
