DTI pushes for big discounts in school supplies

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — Students and their parents can avail themselves of big discounts in school supplies in the “Balik-Eskwela Diskwento” program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Under this program, malls and supermarkets in Pangasinan that renewed partnership with the agency give 10  to 50 percent discounts on school supplies, according to a report from the Philippine Information Agency’s Pangasinan bureau. 

DTI-Pangasinan officer-in-charge Natalia Dalaten said the consumers could avail themselves of school supplies such as notebooks and paper pads at 10 percent discount. Prices of other school needs, such as bags and shoes, are discounted up to 50 percent, she added.

For the program, the DTI renewed its partnership with its “diskwento (discount)” sales partners in Pangasinan, such as Nepo Mall Dagupan, CSI Supermarkets, Magic Supermarkets, Robinsons Place Pangasinan, National Bookstore, Pandayan Bookstore, Nepo Mart Alaminos City, SM City Rosales, Magic Mall Urdaneta, Unitop-Dagupan and San Carlos City, and Puregold Calasiao.
