Early school registration ends Feb. 22
MANILA, Philippines — The early registration for incoming kindergarten and Grades 1, 7 and 11 students in public schools will end tomorrow.
Education Undersecretary Jesus Mateo yesterday urged parents and guardians to register their children as it would help the Department of Education (DepEd) in preparing for the opening of classes in June.
The registration data will be used to anticipate the incoming student population, enabling the schools to ready the necessary resources.
Only students in the kindergarten and Grades 1, 7 and 11 levels are covered by the early registration.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones earlier urged local education officials to undertake house-to-house campaigns to reach school-age children in their respective communities.
Briones said a focal person should be designated in areas without schools but may have enrollees.
The Department of Education said the early registration aims to locate out-of-school children and youth, including those who have disabilities, living in off-grid communities and displaced due to disasters.
