Schools vying in Metrobank Math Challenge named

MANILA, Philippines — Out of the 574,823 students coming from 37,239 elementary and junior high schools who competed in the nationwide elimination rounds, a total of 50 students representing 31 public and private schools have successfully advanced to the final leg of the Metrobank Math Challenge to be held on Mar. 24, 2018 at the Metrobank Plaza Auditorium, Makati City.

Schools competing for the Grade 6 individual competition are: Northbridge Academy (Baguio City); La Morea Academy (Dagupan City); Brightwoods School (Angeles City); First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (Tanauan City, Batangas); Ateneo de Naga University Grade School (Naga City); Alimodian Central Elementary School (Alimodian, Iloilo); Zamboanga Chong Hua High School (Zamboanga City); Pace University (Quezon City); and Renato Lopez Elementary School (Mandaluyong City).

For the Grade 6 team competition, the competing schools are: Bolinao Integrated School (Bolinao, Pangasinan); Kalalake Elementary School – Center of Excellence (Olongapo City); St. Philomena Academy of Lipa (Lipa City); Ateneo de Naga University Grade School (Naga City); St. John’s Institute (Bacolod City); Tagbiliran City SPED Special Science Elementary School; Kong Hua School (Cagayan de Oro City); Rainbow of Angels Learning Center (Butuan City); St. Quiteria Elementary School (Caloocan City); and MGC New Life Christian Academy (Taguig City).

For the Grade 10 individual competition, competing schools are: Pines City National High School (Baguio City); St. Mary’s Academy (Agoo, La Union); Bayanihan Institute (Tarlac City); Dasmariñas Integrated National High School (Dasmariñas City); University of Sto. Tomas Legazpi (Legazpi City); Iloilo National High School (Iloilo City); Philippine Christian Gospel School (Cebu City); Zamboanga Chong Hua High School (Zamboanga City); Colegio de San Juan de Letran (City of Manila); and Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (Quezon City).

And for the Grade 10 team competition, competing schools are: BHC Educational Institution (San Fernando City, La Union); De La Salle Lipa Integrated School (Lipa City); Iloilo National High School (Iloilo City); Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu (Mandaue City); Zamboanga Chong Hua High School (Zamboanga City); Bayugan National Comprehensive High School (Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur); Colegio de San Juan de Letran (City of Manila); and Ateneo de Manila Junior High School (Quezon City).

National winners will receive trophies, medals and cash prizes of P10,000 each. Educational subsidies will also be given through the winners’ Metrobank Fun Savers Club savings account, which encourages kids 17 years and below to save for their future.
