Banat Opinyon

“The real Bongbong Marcos”

IYO ANTOY - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Not withstanding all that has happened to us, all the pain and difficulty that went through, i I still consider myself the luckiest person I know.”

Pananglitan, sa pangutana kon unsay iyang ikasulti sa Edsa revolution, iyang tubag: “Right now no more. That is past, we looked at it through the after effects. Your thoughts go back to the things that happened, but only in a nostalgic sense. “

BBM: “The best thing I can do to achieve many things is to be a good senator. Ultimately, to paraphrase the saying ‘The best revenge is to live well,’ the best validation is to work well, then you can at least vindicate yourself, not anyone else, but you.”

Q: Is there pressure on the Marcos children to vindicate yourselves?

BBM: “Ourselves. I always scratch my head when I’m asked ‘Do you feel the need to vindicate your father?’ Since the very beginning, I don’t understand the question because what is it that I will do that would change my father. If my father was a good President and I am a bad senator, he’s still a good President. If my father was a bad President and I’m a good senator, he’s still a bad President.

“My father’s record, he did for himself, nobody can change that, not even us. So I don’t know what we do will have any effect on their opinion on the history of my father. I always say it, my father does not need me to defend his administration.”

Look at the most successful countries let’s say US, why do Filipinos do well in the United States? Because they are disciplined. Why are they disciplined? If lumabag sa batas, ikukulong ka talaga, walang pakiusap.”

Q. Looking back, do you agree that your dad do as far as running the country is concerned?

BBM: “I could tell what ever decisions he make he did not flippantly. He always took everything that affected the country seriously.”

Q. What is the biggest misconception about you?

BBM: “That I’m aloof, that I’m hard to approach. But what I am really is shy (laughs). People don’t recognize that. It’s funny for somebody who’s in public life, but I’m actually shy, a very private person. I have a potential to be a recluse. Kayang kaya ko mag-isa.”

Apan, karon, hindi na kayo pweding mag-isa.
