Putulan ng pondo ang NTF-ELCAC – Lucy
Pinag-uusapan ang pangalan ni Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez. Laman kasi ng mga balita ang kanyang naging komento tungkol sa usaping alisan ng pondo ang National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) at Barangay Development Fund.
Ang suhestiyon ni Gomez sa pagputol sa pondo ng NTF-ELCAC ay hindi tamang aksyon at kasagutan sa mga reklamo sa red-tagging. Ayon kay Gomez ang mga bumabatikos sa anti-communist task force ay dapat na alalahanin na ang bansa “in same boat” sa panahon ng COVID-19 pandemic at ang pagputol sa pondo ng NTF-ELCAC ay makasisira sa anti-insurgency drive ng pamahalaan.
“At a time when our country is facing its biggest challenge in modern times, let us not forget that we are all in the same boat. Identifying community pantry organizers stifles much needed efforts to feed hungry families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” sabi ni Gomez. “However, defunding the NTF-ELCAC is not the appropriate action just to vent frustration over red-tagging. Let us focus on the wider perspective. Incapacitating the NTF-ELCAC would be a concession of the government’s gains in the fight against insurgency,” dagdag pa ni Gomez.
Marami ang nagpapasalamat sa isang promding kongresista na patuloy na nagbibigay boses sa mga barangay na maaapektuhan kung mababawasan ang pondo para sa BDF. Kung tutuusin hindi naman highly populated ang mga lugar ni Gomez kaya ‘di pwedeng sabihin na gagamitin niya sa eleksyon ang pagsasalita ukol sa usaping pangkapayapaan. Gomez, a staunch supporter of the Anti-Terrorism Act, stressed that the P16 billion budget of the NTF-ELCAC allocated for the Barangay Development Program is a “success” as it has helped rebels from rural areas reintegrate into society — which in turn stabilizes peace and order situation in many areas. May ipinaglalaban ang kongresista na higit pa sa kanya.
“In my opinion, it does not have to be one or the other. We can support community pantries, at the same time continue our successful programs towards peace via the NTF-ELCAC,” paliwanag ni Gomez. Isang nakakashock na rebelasyon na hindi mo aakalain na magmumula sa isang Gomez. Simple rin ang kanyang mga suggestions, alam mo na kaya gawin kung talagang may political will ang mga magiimplement ng programang ito.
“While I strongly agree that public officials should be held accountable for their actions and statements, let us take rational actions that will not jeopardize localized programs to end insurgency,” dagdag pa ni Gomez. Marami tuloy mga promdi ang napraproud na mayroon silang representante na simple, matalino, maprinsipyo at higit sa lahat disente.
