Banat Opinyon

Unsa man kining mga pantries?

IYO ANTOY - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Kinsa may nagsugod niini? Ug ngano man?

Apan kining mga pantries karon, dili kan-anan ug dili sad tindahan. Unsa man diay ni? Mahimo nga ato kunong matawag nga “socialism in one pantry.”

Di sad kaayo masabtan, di b a? Ania ato kining kitluon kining gikan ni Alex Magno sa Philippine Star: “One bright day last week (three weeks na sa atong pagsulat niini), citizen Patricia Non pushed a small bamboo cart up Maginhawa Street in UP Village and filled it with food items. She called it a ‘community pantry.’ A sign was put up, asking the public to give what they can and take what they need.”

Actually, dili kini negosyo, kondili, bayanihan in action, pagpaambitay (sharing). Matud pa: “In the distressed condition this pandemic has thrown us all into, sharing has become an extremely compelling proposition, a revolutionary idea.” Tinuod.

Ilang gitawag nga “Maginhawa model, matud pa,”quickly caught fire, spread through social media and eventually the mainstream press.”

Unya, “the very next day, a similar initiative was set up in nearby Sikatuna Village.

On the third day, dozens (maybe hundreds) of community pantries sprouted all over the city, in wealthy villages as well as poor neighborhoods. On the third day, social media was posting community pantries being set up all over the archipelago. Neighbors were coming together to share what they can and take what they need. Something truly inspiring was sweeping at the grassroots.”

Makatandog ang talan-awon. Matud ni Alex Magno: “I went down to observe what was going on. What I saw was both surprising and refreshing. Ordinary people came and contributed small bags of rice, a few eggs, canned goods and vegetables.”

Unya ang uban, mikuha lang og mga ginagmay nga makaon, at least ilang food for the day, dili alang sa tibuok semana.

Apan, aniay medyo disturbing nga headline nga nagkanayon: “Community pantries pop up as people wait for government aid.” Matud pa: “It didn’t take the government or an organization; just a concerned citizen and a bamboo cart.”

“The emergence of community pantries is laudable. It exemplifies the Filipino bayanihan spirit during this challenging time of Covid-19,” matud ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
