Banat Opinyon

Senior citizens panahon sa pandemic

SENIOR CITIZEN - Antolin dela Serna - Banat

Pangutana: “How can the elderly stay physically and mentally healthy during the pandemic and what to do if they should fell ill?”

Niay tubag gikan sa Internet: “Support for older people, their families and their caregivers is an essential part of the countries' comprehensive response to the pandemic. During times of isolation and quarantine, older people need safe access to nutritious food, basic supplies, money, medicine to support their physical health, and social care.”

Mao ba kini ang nahitabo karon? Ato bang gihatagan og espesyal nga pagtagad ang atong mga senior citizen nga matud pa vulnerable kaayo nga matakdan sa vvirus?

Dugang niini, gikinahanglan kuno ang accurate nga information aron pagseguro nga ilang madawat ang tukma nga kasayoran, dili mga fake news.

Nia pa: “COVID-19 pandemic is impacting the global population in drastic ways. In many countries, older people are facing the most threats and challenges at this time.

“Although all age groups are at risk of contracting COVID-19, older people face significant risk of developing severe illness if they contract the disease due to physiological changes that come with ageing and potential underlying health conditions.”

Ang Section 5 (Government Assistance) No.3 (Social Safety Nets) sa RA 5994 o Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010 nagkanayon: “Social Safety assistance intended to cushion the effects of economic shocks, disasters and calamities shall be provided for senior citizens. The social safety assistance which shall include, but not limited to food, medicines, for domicile repair, shall be[i] sourced from the disaster/calamity funds of LGUs where the senior citizens reside, subject to the guidelines to be issued by the DSWD.”

The Bayan Bayanihan program is leveraging the traditional Filipino Bayanihan principle of community spirit to help address the COVID-19 health crisis by providing critical food supplies to the poor and marginalized in and around Metro Manila.

“The Bayan Bayanihan food program is working alongside the national and local governments’ immediate efforts to provide for the basic needs of Filipinos, especially those living in relatively remote areas or far from food retail outlets. More than 100,000 households have received food packs so far.”

Nindot ni. Ato ning padayunon.
